In 2009, the launch of New Mégane Trophy, the racing version of New Mégane R.S., symbolized a new era for the World Series by Renault. A more modern, higher performance car, the second version of Mégane Trophy has won plaudits from all quarters, the crowds and the press, as well as the drivers and the teams.
For Renault Sport, high-performance saloon car racing is the fruit of a long tradition. The story began in 1981 with the Coupe Renault 5 Turbo. This in turn was replaced by Alpine V6 Turbo, R21 Turbo Europa Cup, Spider then Clio V6.
Mégane Trophy paves the way to a new era. A genuinely groundbreaking prototype, with an ultra- aggressive design and an engine that is as musical as it is powerful, it has rapidly become the standout race car in the World Series by Renault.
A worthy addition to the prestigious list of Renault saloons, the new version of Mégane Trophy goes the extra mile. Its sharper design includes even more creative aerodynamic solutions. From a styling point of view, its profile, with gull-wing doors, is reminiscent of the Le Mans 24 Hours touring cars. The 360bhp engine, with greater all-round efficiency, offers a level of performance equivalent to that of a GT3.
